  Very disappointed. We booked and paid for three nights accommodation several months before our stay in June. When we arrived after a 600km drive we were told that the publicans daughter's 18th birthday party was on that night. We were the only paying guests staying that night. It was like trying to sleep in a night club as the mobile DJ speakers were right outside the accommodation wing in the beer garden next to the corrugated iron screen that was vibrating along with the picture hanging on the bedroom wall....No apology was made and the owner blamed his staff. They had months of opportunity to contact us but obviously didn't care enough to advise us. This pub was the only one that required pre payment. The verandah outside the seven rooms was used on other nights by guests smoking and drinking. I thought that accommodation was supposed to be smoke free??? The owners were disinterested and the service was poor. One good thing was the chef and great food. Ilfracombe is a lovely little town. The Wellshot needs to improve its accommodation service and level of care. We won't be recommending that people stay - you might not get a good sleep.
